Top Five Drivers 2017

The Top Five Drivers For 2017

The golf season is just around the corner and maybe you’ve been thinking about purchasing a new driver to show off on the course this year. We all want to hit the ball with better distance, speed and performance. With the new innovations in golf equipment technology, this is entirely possible.

From watching Jason Day, Dustin Johnson and Rory Mcllroy rip it off the tee, to seeing Jamie Sadlowski drive it 380 yards on the regular, distance matters.

With so many options on the market, we decided to narrow it down to the best five drivers.

  1. Taylormade M1

Clubs come and go in Dustin Johnson’s bag with a fair amount of frequency, but he has a special love for his Taylormade M1 driver. In fact, he won the Genesis Open and WGC-Mexico Championship this year using this driver (way to go DJ!)

The new M1 driver has completely re-vamped its technology to deliver distance, forgiveness and complete personalization.

The M1 uses 43 percent more carbon fiber than its predecessor, which really helps with creating a higher launch angle. The design is sleek, slim and more forgiving than its predecessor. It also has a new aluminum loft sleeve and an active speed pocket, causing drives to fly with excessive spin.

Price: ~$500

2. Cobra King F7

Cobra King F7

Cobra Golf has introduced its longest and smartest driver – the KING F7 – continuing to expand the collection of clubs under the legendary KING brand name. The F7 provides golfers with delivering playable distance and unmatched feel with extreme forgiveness.

In fact, PGA Tour professional Rickie Fowler recently won the Honda Classic with the F7+. It is also used by Lexi Thompson, Jonas Blixt, Jesper Parnevik and World Golf Hall of Fame member Greg Norman.

The F7 driver features a re-engineered face that is lighter and thinner allowing for faster ball speeds. It also has an adjustable weight system and allows for three differing ball flights – low, high and draw, to provide golfers with optimum distance for a variety of conditions. The heavier 12g weight creates a lower, penetrating ball flight with less spin and more roll for maximum distance.

Price: ~$700

3. Callaway Great Big Bertha Epic

GBB_Epic_sole_crown_640x480

The Epic is the first driver to have titanium bars inside the clubhead connecting the crown and the sole to reduce the amount of deflection at impact. Callaway’s innovative “Jailbreak Technology” and Exo-Cage carbon construction gives golfers of any handicap better overall power and improved performance.

Callaway offers a choice four stock shafts in four different weight categories and comes with a choice of basic lofts–9 degrees, 10.5 degrees and a HT model of 13.5 degrees.

Put the Great Big Bertha Epic on your short list. It’s a premium driver that stands out in comparison with others in its class for it’s new look, feel and most importantly forgiveness.

Price: ~$450

4. Ping G

The PING G driver is faster than the G30 and has a bit more forgiveness.

The newest thing about this driver is its Dragonfly Technology.  The structure of the crown is designed to mirror a dragonfly’s wings. The benefit is that the crown is sturdy but lighter and thinner than its predecessors.

The Vortec Technology designed into the rear of the clubhead combines with PING’s “turbulators” on the crown to lower drag on the downswing allowing for greater clubhead speed and therefore ball speed and distance.

Price: ~$400

5. Titleist 917 D2 and D3

Review_Titleist_917D2_917D3_drivers-1021x580

Titleist doesn’t release drivers very often, so when they do it’s a big deal.

Both drivers come with SureFit CG, which is an adjustable weight that allows you to create an optimal centre of gravity. Titleist has also employed Radial Speed Face 2.0 to create a thinner face which will allow you to get more distance regardless of what angle you hit the ball.

Here is the breakdown of the two drivers:

D2

  • Designed for increase distance and forgiveness.
  • Full pear head shape
  • Designed to fit golfers of a wide variety of skill levels

D3

  • Designed for optimal workability and will benefit those who golf regularly
  • Features a deep pear faced design
  • Lower launch speed and spin

Price: ~$500

Marc Leishman Wins Arnold Palmer Invitational Wearing NexBelt | Winning Fashion

Why Your Next Belt May Be A NexBelt

With a 52-foot eagle putt on the 16th hole that would have made the late Arnold Palmer proud, Australia’s Marc Leishman took the lead at the Arnold Palmer Invitational on Sunday that led to a one-stroke victory.

Leishman fired rounds of 71, 66, 71 and 69 at Bay Hill to finish with a score of 277 (11 under par). Marc made the win possible by holing a 50-foot eagle putt on the 16th hole and then sank his par putt on the final hole to seal the victory. Marc was inspired to win a trophy for his two sons, Harvey and Ollie, and he thought of Harvey for an extra dose of confidence as he stood over his final putt.

This was Leishman’s second PGA TOUR win, and the first one that his wife Audrey and their two sons were on-hand to watch.

“It’s been a real dream and a real motivation to win a trophy for Harvey and Ollie, and the fact that we’re all here together is a dream come true,” said Audrey.

Marc’s victory earned him a paycheck for $1.56 Million and 500 FedEx Cup Points. He is currently ranked 11th on the FedEx Cup Points List and 32nd in the Official World Golf Rankings. This victory also earned Leishman an invitation to The Masters in two weeks.

Girls, It’s Time To Rock The Golf Skorts (No Matter Your Size)

Golf Skorts That Will Fit Your Body Type

As the weather gets warmer and the golf season draws near, I’m hoping to find a stylish outfit that I can rock on the golf course. Many women golfers will probably want to stick with the knee-length shorts and collared t-shirts, but, I want to challenge you to find an outfit that makes you feel good while you kick butt on the course. Wearing skorts/skirts is not only fashionable, but allows your legs to breathe!

There’s no better way to show off your feminine side than to sport a golf skirt or skort when you play, but you need to make sure you get the right fit and wear the best pieces for your body type. Here are some pointers that can help in selecting the appropriate style for you:

Athletic. If you have an athletic build with narrow hips and slim legs, you’ll look better in styles that have a little drape (extra fabric), pockets at the sides and back pockets with flaps. All these details will give your figure some curves. Ruffles are your best friend. You’ll also want to keep your length slightly above the knee, to show off your slim legs. You can pull off any bold print.

Straight/Thin. If you’re like me, you are thin with a narrow waist and a small bust. You have trouble fitting into clothes that are stretchy. Sometimes, your skorts don’t quite fit the way you want them to. The best advice I have is to find golf skirts with the hem that stops at the shapeliest part of you calf. That will be your best bet. Play with belts, coats, pleats, tights, etc. to maximize the appearance you want to achieve. Also, rocking some bright colors like pink, orange or blue will accentuate your body a little bit more.

Hourglass. The key to dressing an hourglass body type is to balance your lower body with your bust, while accentuating your waist.  To accommodate this, pick skort styles that fit close to the waist and then drape out over the hips and bottom. And since you have a bigger bust, a nice polo v-neck will suit you well.

Golf Skorts
Accenuate your waist with a golf skort that drapes out a bit.

Oval. You tend to have an undefined waist, a full torso, broad shoulders and slim legs. Pick skirts with a minimal waist band or a style with no waist band at all. De-emphasize your midsection and create a more defined waist. Choose clothing that will add curves and fullness to your lower body and tops that taper to a waist. You have amazing legs so feel free to play with skirt lengths, but don’t go too short otherwise you will further a top-heavy look.

Whatever your body type, you can find a golf skort that will fit you just the way you are. So, go out on the golf course and rock a skort. Be confident, be fashionable. There are tons of brands, sizes and styles to choose from. Just make sure to do some research and find what will best suit you.
